傳統上，在英語（英式和美式）中，electricity blackout（斷電）也叫power cut，也是power outage。。與outage相比，blackout通常會帶點兒意外斷電的感覺。

Water non-supply is traditionally

water suspension

（intentional） or a

water stoppage

（accidental）。 There’s no particular reason for it — it’s just conventional usage。 Of course， no one speaks of a water blackout （because water doesn’t ‘light’ or ‘lit’）。

水不供了應通常是water suspension（故意的）或water stoppage（意外的）。這並沒有什麼特別的原因，只是習慣用法。當然，沒有人會說water blackout（因為水不會亮或不亮）。

例：

While I was making dinner， the electricity suddenly went down， I immediately checked my neighbors to see if their power was out， too， or if only my location was affected。 And a few minutes later， the power was restored。

當我正在做晚飯的時候，突然停電了，我立即去看了看我的鄰居，看看他們是否也停電了，或者是否只有我的位置受到了影響。幾分鐘後，電力恢復了。

People have daily power cuts， daily water cuts。

民眾每天都會遇到停電和停水的情況。

The water’s gonna be shut off for the day。

這兩天會停水。
