影片中的主人公克里斯·加德納，因貧窮的生活使妻子落跑，只剩下一個人近中年的男人帶著兒子在大街上風餐露宿，為了讓兒子有正常的上學環境。賣血、跑好幾條街尋找流浪漢——那人搶走只能給他換幾餐飯的醫療儀器，但他從未放棄，哪怕風餐露宿，一路上克里斯經歷了不少挫折，但是年幼的兒子每次都能給予他最大的鼓勵，兩父子相互扶持最終完成自己的夢想。（該影片改編自發生在獨立宣言後的真實故事）

16、You got a dream， you gotta protect it。 People can’t do something themselves，they wanna tell you you can‘t do it。If you want something， go get it。 Period。

如果你有夢想的話，就要去扞衛它。那些一事無成的人想告訴你你也成不了大器。如果你有理想的話，就要去努力實現。就這樣。

也許人生就是這樣，當你有了目標就要為之而奮鬥，就要努力去實現它，所有的看起來簡單大多都是建立在汗水之中，雄鷹如果不想翱翔在天空中，那麼它將面臨的只有被自然淘汰。

隨著都市的繁華，人心的浮躁。開始抱怨不幸、不公平、羨慕著他人的生活。當內心不再平靜，我們又怎麼能發現在身邊的美好呢？

電影中：男主角經歷了種種的不順，甚至和乞丐搶住的地方，可是他依舊對生活抱著一顆感恩的心，讓生活的苦難變成了一種歷練。最終找到了工作。
